Angolan radio is in English from 21:00z to 22:00z on 7217kHz with a power of 15kW. That signal should reach the UK but China Radio International on 7215kHz with 150kW from Albania in Arabic is going to make things difficult. We will try tomorrow, I think I will need a better antenna :-)

Only one station broadcasts from this war torn country at present and that is RADIO SOLH (or Radio Peace) and this station broadcasts from Bagram Air Base from 00:30z to 19:30z on 6700kHz with a power of 1kW.

With this being the only station on this frequency there is a chance we may hear it; the following is a VOACAP chart for the path between me and Kabul... The best chance appears between 17:00z and 19:30z closedown... we shall see...

OK. We shall try to do this in some sort of alphabetic order... the first five countries that are broadcasting in English are....

Angola
Anguilla
Argentina

As we log one we will replace it with a new country - if we have no loggings for a week we will increase the number of targets.

next will follow an analysis of each country and the best opportunity to catch them.

This blog will detail my attempts to log 100 countries on Shortwave (and Mediumwave) with all countries needing to be broadcasting in English.

At the current time I am using an Icom IC-706 as the receiver and a 'mobile phone earpiece' as the antenna! (yes really).....
